Why build from scratch?

Write about your motivations here. Template builders are convenient, but building from scratch teaches you how the web actually works and gives you total control over every pixel.

What I learned

Talk about what you picked up along the way — CSS layout, responsive design, the satisfying feeling of seeing your own code render in a browser. These posts don't have to be long. A few paragraphs is fine.
